Favorite Things: Edie’s on the Hill and in West Seattle
Just when you thought your only options for summer sandals were flat-footed gladiator wraps, along comes this week’s edition of Favorite Things (for the first, click this), in which Erin Dolan of Edie’s points us toward two pair of European-made platform wedges.
The watermelon red specimen are by the Italian footwear company Manas; the blue-and-white sailboat-ready pair are by Camper. While chatting with Erin about her two favorites, I tried to give her credit for bringing the latter — that is, the iconic Spanish shoe line — to Seattle, but she wouldn’t take it. She says J. Gilbert carried the brand first, but she did allow that she now offers the widest selection of Camper’s men’s and women’s styles.
You’ll note these aren’t platform wedges with a bold-face ‘p’ and a capital ‘W’; they’re not sky-high runway wedges, but easy-going, wearable wedges. Walk-to-the-beach wedges. Stroll-the-farmers-market-in-search-of-the-snappiest-snap-pea wedges. Cuffed boyfriend jeans or your best sundress or just-above-the-knee skirt would do either pair justice.
