Two new cruise ships are coming to Seattle’s ports in 2013, and technically, we’re not supposed to call them boats. See, boats are small vessels, and these suckers from Oceania Cruise Lines and Celebrity Cruises are anything but tiny.

The Solstice is 1,041 feet long and houses a whopping 2,850 passengers, all of whom will be hauled from Terminal 91 to Alaska in seven-day Celebrity cruises in 2013. It will be joined by the Regatta, Oceania’s flagship, which is a mere 594 feet long and holds 684 passengers. Those departures will be from Pier 66.

They’ll just miss the Disney Wonder, which debuts here on May 28 but will have just 14 Seattle departures in 2012 before moving to Vancouver next summer. Like many other companies, Disney’s ships head to north, stopping at Victoria, BC, before hitting Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway in Alaska. The Wonder carries 2,713 Mickey Mouse fanatics and includes teen clubs, adult-only areas, and a theater with nearly a thousand seats.

Maybe you’re down for all-you-can-eat buffets on the high seas, but that’s not all these behemoths bring to the city. The Port of Seattle estimates that each docking—there are 202 such "vessel calls" scheduled for 2012—brings $2 million into the local economy.
