It has been a long nine months for fans of Elliott’s oyster happy hour and Ivar’s clam chowder but tomorrow they both reopen with menu changes, new discounts, and brand spanking new interiors (and one big new patio). After closing in October 2014, due to the $330 million seawall construction project, both seafood restaurants took this time to make huge changes.

One of the most dramatic differences along the wall is the stalwart Ivar’s Acres of Clams. Its $20 million transformation includes a kitchen double in size, a refreshed fish bar, and over 150 more seats inside. It also boasts a new patio that seats 140 that is in prime view of the Olympic Mountains. The menu also experienced a makeover. Expect to see dishes such as grilled fresh sockeye salmon, oven roasted Dungeness crab, and marinated grilled prawns.

During the nine-month hiatus, the main aim at Elliott’s Oyster House and its more casual Cafe 56 was to create a menu that highlighted sustainability. New additions include geoduck tartare, cured yellowfin tuna, and spicy crab with a jasmine rice cake. The oyster happy hour is back with $1 half shells starting from 3pm daily.

Other businesses set to reopen tomorrow include Starbucks on Pier 55, Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, and Red Robin.
