Favorite Things: Fini near Pike Place Market
They love bags, bracelets, and hats at Fini, but not to the exclusion of halter tops made right here in Seattle from repurposed scarves.
I know: It’s been a long time since the words halter top have passed your lips, but get used to them. They’re back.
Kimberly Kay and her daughter Paris sort through piles of discarded silk and otherwise luxuriously smooth vintage scarves — designer and otherwise — and, adding contrasting fabrics to form soft necklines, belts for structure, and ultra-soft lining for wearability, fashion them into barely-there summer blouses.
Riffing on a joke Kimberly’s husband cracked one afternoon after the pair returned from a fruitful day of scavenger hunting, the line is called Halter Hotties and at Fini, they love it.
Says owner Camilla Eyre, “They attract the eye of shoppers of all ages. We’re particularly impressed with the attention to detail and finish work on the halters. Just beautiful. The fact that the designer’s a hometown girl pleases both visitors and locals who like to keep it local!”
