Little Water Cantina Faces Cinco de Mayo

Today—Cinco de Mayo—is Little Water’s first official day in business. Ay yay yay.

Cameo McRoberts knows how to make a margarita.

Early word from my Facebook friends is that Shannon and Laura Wilkinson’s Little Water Cantina, the new Mexican restaurant on Eastlake which has its official opening tonight, is already good.

Eater Seattle’s Allecia Vermillion reported early this week that Cameo McRoberts is the sous chef.

A Rick Bayless alum, McRoberts seems like an excellent fit for a Mexican restaurant but here’s some more good news: She knows cocktails. McRoberts has stirred potions with Kathy Casey and helped open the bar at Walrus and the Carpenter, where the drinks are very good.

Vermillion noted that Little Water’s libations menu is heavy on tequila and mezcal—perfect for Cinco—and that a classic cocktail menu is in the works.

Frankly, I think they are very brave to open on this, a holy cluster of a drunken holiday, so remember to be patient while storming the bar tonight in celebration of the battle of Puebla.
