Sounders Soccer, Amazing $5 beer-and-dinner deal, and Philly Cheese Steaks.

This is not a Philly cheese steak.
This Thursday, March 25, Seattle will host the kickoff game for the entire 2010 MLS season when the Sounders take on the Philadelphia Union. That’s a big deal.
The FCs will likely be watching at their respective host bars, but the rest of us should gather at the Bookstore Bar in the Alexis Hotel.
The bar is offering a special from 4 to 7pm on the 25th: a Philly cheese steak, fries, and a bottle of Fish Tale Ale for $5. That’s such a good deal that I won’t hold it against them that the cheese steak likely has very little in common with a real Philly cheese steak. If there is one subject on which I can speak with some authority, it’s Philly cheese steaks. And the only place to get a real Philadelphia-style cheese steak in Seattle in Philly Fevre. And I’m not claiming that Fevre doesn’t have its issues—it’s not a perfect Philly cheese steak, but it is a Philly cheese steak. Everything else I’ve seen has been a steak sandwich with cheese on it. There’s nothing wrong with that, in fact it can be quite delicious. But let’s call a spade a spade.

This is.
But you’re not an obsessed Philly expat. You don’t care about all that. You want to go to the Bookstore Bar and snarf up a tasty meatwich while you cheer on your awesome soccer team. Enjoy.
