Look, it’s George Clooney and Eva Mendes! Or not!

First: Happy VD, Noshers.

Open Table, the San Francisco-based real-time restaurant reservation service, has released a Valentine’s Day survey of 4,000 OpenTable diners. Here are some of its heartfelt findings:

Eating out beats eating in. Fully 90 percent of its respondents nationally plan to dine out for the holiday; in Seattle (where the home-cooking’s so fine) it’s only 85 percent.

Nothing beats February 14. Nationally and locally, the largest percentage of respondents will be celebrating Valentine’s Day tonight. Second best was yesterday; third choice this last Saturday; last choice Friday.

Things must be looking up. Some 90 percent nationally (86 percent locally) will spend more or the same this year as last on Valentine’s Day dining.

Sorry, can’t help you here. Top dream dates for women? George Clooney and Ryan Reynolds. For men it’s Eva Mendes and Maria Sharapova.

Eat hearty now.
