As KOMO first reported, the head of the city's Parks Department, Tim Gallagher, is currently a conference in Australia (along with his deputy Sue Goodwin) at a cost to taxpayers of $6,000.

Yesterday, PubliCola learned that the junket is just one of several Gallagher has taken at public expense this year. We'll have details on where Gallagher has been and at what cost to taxpayers later today.

Additionally, we've learned that Gallagher put his three-bedroom waterfront house in Magnolia on the market late last year. Asking price: $1.35 million. It's unclear whether Gallagher plans to move within the city or outside Seattle altogether.
