Reunited and it Feels So … Meh

The Super Bowl is still a month away, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early for the Will Brett Favre Retire Or Won’t He Watch to fire up … and this time, he’s dragging an old friend into the mix. Maybe.

The Jets ran coach Eric Mangini out of town this week after Mangini failed to pump enough Centrum Silver into Favre to get the Jets to the playoffs, which means that there’s a coaching vacancy in New York. Which means the Will Mike Holmgren Join Old Pal Brett Favre in NY Watch can officially start. And it already has. Steve Politi of The Star-Ledger thinks Holmgren might have just as much trouble turning his back on football as Favre did last summer — and what better way to come back to the league than by reigniting the flame of his long-smoldering bromance with buddy Brett?

“‘My feeling is I’ll probably get a little squirrelly’ is what Holmgren said when asked how he’d feel if training camp started in July and he didn’t have a team. It didn’t take Favre that long to get the itch after retiring. He looks at Holmgren as a father figure and credits his mentor in Green Bay for his longevity and success.”

Will it happen? Does anyone care? And if Holmgren takes the job in New York, how long will he be sleeping on the couch after promising his wife Kathy that he’d take some time off?
