Death Cab for Cutie, Heart, and Fun to Headline Bumbershoot

This year’s Bumbershoot headliners have a little more local flavor than usual—and that’s great news. Death Cab for Cutie and Heart share top billing at the Labor Day weekend festival with rapper Kendrick Lamar, pop hitmakers Fun, psychedelic rockers MGMT, and electro-dance sensation Bassnectar. Heart’s performance will be the Wilson sisters’ first in Seattle since being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, while Death Cab for Cutie will make Bumbershoot extra special by playing its breakthough album Transatlanticism in its entirety (cue the sound of a thousand indie nerds sighing). Outside of the biggest names, Bumbershoot 2013 also features a new wave icon (Gary Numan), shiny pop rockers (Tegan and Sara, Matt and Kim, Ra Ra Riot), and plenty of veteran alt-rock punch (The Breeders, Bob Mould, Superchunk, !!!). The lineup of locals also includes Allen Stone, David Bazan, the Physics, Kris Orlowski, Vicci Martinez, the Maldives, Ivan and Alyosha, Kithkin, and many more.

Tickets for Bumbershoot are on sale now at bumbershoot.org. Single-day passes run $50–$55 and three-day passes are $120.
