Two local papers, including the alt weekly the Stranger, were among this year's Pulitzer Prize winners, announced today:

Michael J. Berens and Ken Armstrong of the Seattle Times won the Pulitzer for investigative reporting, for a series about a state program that steered vulnerable patients from safer (but more expensive) pain medications to methadone.

And, mazel tov!, Eli Sanders, our former colleague at the Stranger, won in the feature writing category for his moving profile of the survivor of  2009's  South Park murder.

Congratulations to all three.
