TONIGHT: Cirque’s Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour

MJ lives! Sort of.

By Laura Dannen November 9, 2011

The same week that Michael Jackson’s doctor is found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, Cirque du Soleil rolls into Seattle with a sequined reminder that MJ’s legacy goes beyond the courthouse. For Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour, Cirque’s nimble dancers and acrobats bound around to a soundtrack of his greatest hits, directed by former backup dancer Jamie King (who also did tours for Madonna and Britney Spears) and Chantal Tremblay (who helped design The Beatles Love show in Vegas). Like most Cirque shows, there’s a very loose storyline, something about a mime walking us through Jackson’s life, but let’s be honest: We’re going to watch zombies dance to “Thriller.” To see MJ’s “Smooth Criminal” moves recreated, and to sing along to “Billie Jean” without fear of retribution. This is actually it. If there’s an oversized dancing glove, so be it.

Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour by Cirque du Soleil is at KeyArena on Nov 9 & 10.
