On January 27, the annual Hutch Award Luncheon was held at Safeco Field. Because of your generosity and an incredible $200,000 challenge gift, gross proceeds of more than $545,000 were raised for Fred Hutch. The program featured the 51st Hutch Award recipient, Adam Wainwright from the St. Louis Cardinals, Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk, and the presentation of the 1st Honorary Hutch Award to President Jimmy Carter, accepted by his grandson Jason Carter. The Hutch Award is given annually to an MLB player who best exemplifies the honor, courage and dedication of legendary baseball player and manager Fred Hutchinson.
