Chin tirelessly served the International District community for more than 40 years, patrolling the streets, providing meals for the elderly, and helping raise neighborhood kids.
Beginning his patrol in the late 1960s, Donnie Chin was celebrated for his activism by neighbors in his community as well as leaders such as mayor Paul Schell, who formally acknowledged his contributions in 2000.
