It’s official.
King County Elections sent a letter to the Seattle city clerk this afternoon stating that the effort to repeal this year’s $15 minimum wage law did not get enough signatures to make the ballot.
The campaign, known as Forward Seattle, backed (to the tune of $84,000) by local business interests such as former Starbucks president Howard Behar, 7-11, restaurants like Cactus in South Lake Union, several ID businesses, and north Seattle business leaders such as Faye Garneau and Suzie Burke, got 14,818 valid signatures. They needed 16,510. Â
Here’s the letter, which also notes the failure of a separate, much smaller effort that only had 455 valid signatures. Â
