Learn to trust the Cola: As we reported last week, Jessyn Farrell, former director of the Transportation Choices Coalition and a former spokeswoman for Pierce Transit, is running to fill the 46th District state house seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Phyllis Gutierrez Kenney. Farrell told us her her two biggest “motivating factors” are the need for more alternative transportation advocates in Olympia, and the fact that many female legislators are retiring. “Maybe it’s time for new faces to step up,” Farrell says.
In a statement today, Farrell said women need “champions” in Olympia “who will stand up and defend our rights and freedoms for family planning and health care access,” said Farrell. “At the federal and state level, we are seeing threats to our progress and a slow erosion of our rights. I’ll bring needed new energy and conviction to this fight.”
