San Fernando Roasted Chicken Expands to White Center

Coming in April: A third location where you can score some much-acclaimed Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken.

San Fernando Roasted Chicken, a rare destination for Peru’s signature rotisserie poultry in our part of the world, is opening a third restaurant in White Center. According to White Center Now, the soon-to-be-chainlet is moving in at 9809 16th Ave SW.

When I reached owner Walter Diaz at his Rainier Avenue location (the original is in Lynnwood), he told me the new San Fernando should open April-ish, and the menu will be the same as his other locations. San Francisco boasts a heaping handful of notable Peruvian spots, but this cuisine remains a rarity in Seattle, an oddity since it’s inexpensive and highly accessible even for nonadventurous eaters.

As the name might suggest, the pollo a la brasa is San Fernando’s claim to both fame and rapturous online reviews (even Hanna Raskin likes it). This rotisserie chicken is generally seasoned with cumin, garlic, and sometimes soy sauce; it’s not fancy but when done right it’s criminally good. The menu also includes other popular-in-America Peruvian staples like ceviche and lomo saltado.
