This Week in Restaurant News: Phnom Penh Noodle House Returns, Bearyaki Begins

Your Friday dispatch from Seattle Met’s food team.

Given the lines at Drip Tea, it may actually be the winter of bearyaki.

Marine Life

Linda Derschang announced on Instagram what’s next for the former Queen City space in Belltown. Seahorse Bar will open here in late April. Wondering what its steez is? Derschang is using the hashtag #itsadivebar.

Italian Sandwich Alert

Restaurateurs have been chatty on Instagram this week (and I love it). Brendan McGill says his old Hitchcock Deli space in Georgetown will soon become an Italian sandwich shop, Panino Taglio. Eater Seattle has a few more details.

Ball Bearings

Per Capitol Hill Seattle, new arcade bar Solid State will have a craft pinball program and cup noodles.

Forget Frosé

I’m calling it now: This will be the summer of bearyaki.

Phenomenal Noodle News

The official Chinatown–ID Instagram account made me squeal out loud with this one: Phnom Penh Noodle House has an official reopening date of Saturday, March 14. Seattle’s been Phnom Penh–less since the 30-year institution of Cambodian food closed in May 2018.

Meanwhile, on Seattle Met:

Self-serve taprooms: It’s a thing!

The James Beard Award semifinalists: Also definitely a thing.
