Seattle Restaurant News October 2019

This month: oyster festivals, new-ish Jewish delis, and the prettiest gluten-free cookbook you ever did see.

Now downtown: two glorious dumpling dens.

Seafood Soirees

OysterFest is Shelton’s annual ode to tide-dwelling mollusks. Mark your calendars: barbecued bivalves, microbrews, and shucking contests go down the first weekend of October.

Dumplings Forever

Dough Zone, which expanded from the Eastside to Seattle in 2017 with a Chinatown–International District outpost, debuted another location at Ninth and Pine.

Gluten-Free and Gorgeous

Author-photographer Aran Goyoaga has shot many a beautiful cookbook. Her latest, Cannelle et Vanille, is out this fall and filled with unfussy recipes of her own.

Fine Wines

The stewards behind Fremont’s all-day cafe Vif bring a wine bottle shop and bar, Petite Soif, to Beacon Hill this fall. Hearty tartines and pours of Italian barbera will abound.

A Duo of Delis

Seattle’s Jewish food offerings expand with two new arrivals: Zylberschtein’s in Lake City and Schmaltzy’s in Ballard deliver the classics, from bagels and lox to reubens.
