It’s Official: Dough Zone Is Coming to Seattle

Specifically to the Chinatown-International District. Oh, glorious day.

This is happening.

If you live in Seattle, the noodles and dumplings at Dough Zone are absolutely worth crossing the bridge. But now the restaurant with four locations in Redmond and Bellevue has made official its first location in the 206, where good soup dumplings are in limited supply.

Dough Zone is the first signed restaurant occupant of the Publix, a mixed use apartment complex on the same block as Uwajimaya in Chinatown-International District. Construction in the light-filled space will start this winter, according to the official release, so look for xiao long bao, jian bun, and dan dan noodles some time in 2017.

Keep an eye on this building for more food news. Publix combines a historic 1928-era single occupancy hotel (fully restored with an uber charming lobby) and new construction that sits on the foundation of the original Uwajimaya. The project, designed in part by no less a restaurant design czar than Graham Baba, has a handful of street-level spaces available and the Moriguchi family, which owns the property and also Uwajimaya, is intent on bringing in local business that add to the fabric of the neighborhood.

More Dough Zone updates as we have them.
