1Infamous: Second Son – Seattle
Traversing Seattle rooftops is a big part of Second Son's gameplay, so the Sucker Punch team scaled the real Space Needle and photographed the tops of nearby buildings to portray an accurate picture. In the game the attraction is used as a transmission hub by the Department of Unified Protection, and those jagged growths that spiral up the sides of the monument may be blocking or monitoring citizens’ cellphone and Internet activity.

2Infamous: Second Son – Monorail
While neighborhoods like Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill are present in Second Son, the game condenses the city to a size that’s just big enough without being unwieldy.

4Infamous: Second Son – Pacific Science Center
In order to make the smaller Seattle still feel like the city we know and love, Sucker Punch added in actual landmarks like the Pacific Science Center arches to give the digital world an authentic feel.

6Infamous: Second Son – Pioneer Square
"It’s a real city. And Seattle’s an awesome and beautiful city. There’s people that live here and some of them are, you know, some of them go to coffee shops. So you’ll see pedestrians sitting and their having a coffee. You’ll see people checking their cell phone. It’s a place that’s worth saving." - Dociu

7Infamous: Second Son – Elephant Car Wash
Sucker Punch worked with Seattle companies like Sub Pop and Elephant Car Wash (which will be selling copies of the game) to give Second Son some real world flair. But there was an effort to maintain the game’s local vibe. “You’re not going to see Starbucks or any of the big guys,” Dociu says. “There’s no Pepsi or advertisements.”

8Infamous: Second Son – Foggy Seattle
"We (Sucker Punch Productions) are located in Bellevue right outside of Seattle. So we’re from the area. And it was just very appealing for us to do this kind of environment that’s not seen in games a whole lot. You get a lot of New York and that sort of thing. Especially with comic books, movies, and games, but you seldom see Seattle. And so we thought, 'Well, we love Seattle. We’d love to see the story take place here.'" - Dociu

It’s easy to look out at Seattle skyline and get lost in superhero daydreams about hopping between the rooftops and ascending to the top of the Space Needle. Bellevue’s Sucker Punch Production gives gamers the chance to make those dreams a (virtual) reality when Infamous: Second Son arrives on the PlayStation 4 on March 21. In the game, players take control of Delsin Rowe, a 24-year-old graffiti artist with smoke-based powers that aid in his urban exploration and havoc creation. We talked to Second Son‘s art designer Horia Dociu, who gave us a guided tour of the game’s take on our city.
