Pickwick’s Debut Album Set for March; Hear Their New Single with Sharon Van Etten

Seattle's soul revival continues.

After years of anticipation, anxious fans (including Seattle soul peer Allen Stone) will be happy to hear that Pickwick is finally putting out its debut album. The indie-soul savants will release their first full-length record, Can’t Talk Medicine, on March 12 (though anyone who was at their packed, dance-happy New Year’s Eve concert at Showbox at the Market got a preview). As if that news wasn’t cool enough, the album’s first single features an appearance by the fantastic singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten — a collaboration on a cover of Richard Swift’s “Lady Luck,” which, like Pickwick’s sound, is a throwback to the ’60s: a sweet melody with a hint of Motown. You can download it for free right now (see the widget below).

As an early treat for their patient fans, Pickwick dropped a three-song EP today of digital covers: the aforementioned “Lady Luck,” and the band’s take on Damien Jurado’s “I Am the Greatest of All Liars” and the Primitive’s “The Ostrich.” It’s available for download on iTunes and Amazon.
