The sense of anticipation and excitement is palpable at this time of year, too, and it’s part of what makes this time of year so special. There’s a festive vibe abuzz as Whistler Village gets decked out with lights and other holiday decor, fresh snowfall covers the alpine scenery, and winter outdoor gear comes out of storage.

Whistler is starting to awaken, and the promise of another extraordinary winter season lingers in the brisk air. And as soon as you finish waxing your snowboard or skis and step foot onto Whistler territory, you’ll feel the energy building.

Officially opening for the winter season on November 20, Whistler and Blackcomb welcome people to explore the mountain as it awakens before peak season. With terrain unlike anywhere else in the world, adventurers can enjoy early-season turns from morning all the way until the evening, when they head back to the Village for warm drinks and hearty dinners.

Looking to gain more confidence on the mountain or improve your technique? Group and private lessons for skiing and snowboarding are available for kids, teens, and adults. Book early at the beginning of the season, so you can easily secure your spot.

For more experienced skiers and snowboarders looking to check something off their bucket list, there’s nothing like the excitement of heli-skiing, where expert guides tailor a backcountry adventure along untouched alpine bowls, glacier runs, and deep powder.
