Jason Sheehan: The new face of Seattle Weekly food coverage.

We were wondering when the announcement would come. This morning on Voracious beloved Seattle Weekly restaurant critic Jonathan Kauffman named Jason Sheehan his successor.

Sheehan, an eight-year veteran at Denver’s Westword, is the best-selling author of Cooking Dirty: A Story of Life, Sex, Love, and Death in the Kitchen and a James Beard winner for criticism.

He wrote to Kauffman: "Other than Denver, there are only two or three other cities in the country where the food is interesting enough and the scene vital enough to tempt me into uprooting my entire life just for a chance at getting a taste. Seattle is one of those cities." See the full letter here.

Kauffman announced in late November that come January he was planning to join the food staff at San Francisco Weekly. His are big shoes to fill, but we look forward to reading Sheehan’s take on this city’s dining scene. Welcome, Jason.
