After two long years, Capitol Hill’s Little Oddfellows Cafe is back.
Nestled on the first floor of Elliott Bay Book Company, Little Oddfellows is the sister cafe to Linda Derschang’s Oddfellows Cafe and Bar next door. The younger space arrived in 2015 to feed bookworms, caffeine-lovers, and students alike. It quickly became a hub for both creativity and relaxation. Then, the pandemic hit.
Like so many other businesses, this hidden-away favorite shut down in early 2020. Its return took a while due to the usual factors (like staffing) but also the desire to reserve the building’s limited capacity for bookstore patrons. Adam Szafranski of the Derschang Group says fans continued to send DMs and ask servers for Little Oddfellows status updates when dining at the original next door.
Little Oddfellows evolved during its time off. The new menu has the same drinks and Caffe Vita coffee as before, but some adjusted food selections. The pastry case is once again full of scones and cookies, but grab-and-go fare has replaced the avocado toast and panini previously prepared behind the kitchen counter. Now you can pick up items like tarragon chicken salad or asparagus, dill, and goat cheese quiche (plus some gluten-free and vegan options).
The decor, however, remains untouched. The Insta-friendly all-white bookshelf wallpaper prevails and the spheres of light lining the ceiling will still illuminate aspiring writers, quiet people-watchers, and pastry and coffee aficionados.
Little Oddfellows will be open every day from 10am to 7pm.
