Landscapers get Mai Thaiku ready for business.


Mai Thaiku
The Thai restaurant, formerly of Ballard (and formerly known as simply Thaiku), has reopened on Greenwood Avenue North in a space previously occupied by Gaspare. A scaled-down version of apothecary-styled cocktail bar Fu Kun Wu also made the move (as did its libido-enhancing herbal cockails). 

Bar Sajor

Garden Sushi
My Ballard says owner Tsering Lama is looking for a new place to put his sushi trailer now that the Shell gas station at 15 Avenue Northwest and Northwest 70 Street is closed. Lama anticipates the search should only take a few days but is halting business in the meantime.

Casa D'Italia
The Donatone family has shuttered their cafe after serving the Ravenna neighborhood for 12 years. Ravenna Blog reprinted a Craigslist post that cited "family issues" as being behind the closure. A note posted on the restaurant's door encourages patrons to keep tabs on the Casa D'Italia website for news of the family's next venture.


The Westin Hotel is replacing the Coldwater Bar and Grill with a new burger bar called Relish, according to Eater Seattle. Relish will open daily starting on March 1, with a grand opening planned for March 14.

Tulalip Resort Casino
The casino is headed East for its latest dining venture, set to open in June. The new Asian restaurant (name TBD) will blend Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai cuisines. The bar will serve handcrafted cocktails, an array of sakes, and wine.

Ezell's Express
is joining the food truck frenzy. A fleet of mobile kitchens dedicated to the chainlet's famed fried chicken will debut this spring; the first one is due in April. Ezell's Express is a family affair: Phylicia Davidson, daughter of Ezell's cofounder Lewis Rudd, and business partner Jennifer Stephens, Rudd's niece, are behind the venture.  


Nick’s Off Market
Following former chef Terry Campbell's retirement in September, the Ballard News Tribune announced that Nick’s Off Market has hired Erick Eriksen as its new head chef after an “exhaustive search.” Request a seat at the “Meet the Chef” night to hear about Eriksen’s plans for the new position.
