Marriage becomes legal for all Washington couples on December 6, but with a three day waiting period on marriage licenses, same-sex couples won't be officially wed until December 9. We are thrilled about this historical milestone, and so are local businesses. To celebrate, we rounded up a list of receptions and specials in honor of the big day. Here's to the happy couple:

Q Nightclub
Dec 9: Join The Stranger's Dan Savage and husband Terry Miller from 6 to 10 to celebrate the first legal same-sex marriages in Washington State. After wedding ceremonies take place all day at Seattle’s City Hall, party together with those who so diligently advocated for R74, and KEXP’s DJ Riz Rollins as he spins his tables. The reception is free, but a suggested donation will go directly to Freedom to Marry, the campaign to allow marriage for all in every state.

Paramount Theatre
Dec 9: Seattle Theatre Group, along with with the Mayor’s Office, Washington United For Marriage, Music for Marriage Equality, and Seattle Weekly welcome all newlyweds of r-74 for a free wedding reception at the Paramount Theatre starting at 6. Families and friends are all welcome for champagne toasts and entertainment.

Cupcake Royale
Dec 9: The sweet treat shop is donating 500 rainbow Gay-bies (those rainbow-colored baby cupcakes you see above) for City Hall's December 9 wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Hotel Vintage Park
Dec 6–9: The downtown hotel offers a special 'Legally Wed' rate to same sex, LGBT, and transgender couples who were married December 6 through 9 and show their marriage license at check in. Using online rate code R74, book one of the hotels romantic suites for $74 on Sunday, Dec 9, and $174 on Friday and Saturday, Dec 7 and 8.

Alexis Hotel
Dec 7–Mar 31: The Alexis Hotel offers a $174 rate for a suite, including champagne, for same sex, LGBT, and transgender couples married December 6 through 9 who show their marriage license at check in with online reservation code R74.
