Hard ciders seem to be turning up everywhere these days. It’s no longer that cheap wine cooler-like beverage that hit the market in the 1990’s. There are now dozens of small producers across the Northwest turning out small batch artisanal ciders with an astounding array of flavor profiles and naturally gluten-free. The choice can be overwhelming. Enter Cider Summit.
The 6th Annual Cider Summit Seattle will take place on Friday & Saturday, September 11-12 at the South Lake Union Discovery Center. The organizers are expecting over 200 ciders from more than 50 producers. The line-up is heavy on regional Northwest ciders but also includes small producers from as far away as New Hampshire, and a few “world classics” from France, Spain and the United Kingdom. In most cases you’ll be able to meet the cidermakers and discover what style of cider is right for you.
Whole Foods Market and Capitol Cider will have specially paired foods, there’s live music and even a Dog Lounge! While you’re having fun sampling all these ciders you’ll also be contributing to the Northwest Cider Association, Seattle Humane, and The Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research who are all beneficiaries.
