Sazón Kitchen—the Ballard Mexican restaurant that quietly established itself last year as one of the best newcomers in town—has a second location in the works. In July, the former Five Hooks Fish Grill space at 2232 Queen Anne Ave N will become Sazón de la Baja, dishing up the tacos and hearty breakfast that built a following over in Ballard, along with more seafood-centered dishes.

Aldo Góngora, who owns all things Sazón with his wife, Angelica, and sister-in-law (and head chef) Roxana Martin, says ceviche, aguachile, seafood tostadas, and cocteles de mariscos are on the agenda. That patio should prove especially handy in a summer where Covid concerns put an additional premium on outdoor dining, though Sazón also boasts a strong takeout game.

Sadly Sazón de la Baja doesn’t have too many summers in store for that patio; the property at Queen Anne Avenue and McGraw will be redeveloped in fall 2021, says Góngora, so the stay is temporary, though hopefully their presence on Queen Anne is not.
