A call for a tiki lounge on Capitol Hill on Sauced pitted kitsch kvetchers against mai tai mavens. “Tiki is tacky and has no place [there],” wrote one reader. “Get your noses out of the air and loosen up Capitol Hill,” admonished another. Then came the one -development all imbibers could support. Sauced announced the first-ever Seattle Cocktail Week was coming, October 13–18.

Nosh Pit reported on another first for the city: a culinary bookstore. What once was a dream of the late Kim Ricketts becomes reality later this month when Lara Hamilton, a former employee of Ricketts, opens Book Larder on Fremont Ave. Meanwhile, Culture Fiend hit Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s appearance at the Neptune, where the Inception and 3rd Rock from the Sun star asked the audience to tweet observations about Seattle. Among his favorites: “It has the largest number of women who look like lesbians but aren’t.”
