This Friday is a chance to support local artists like Terror/Cactus directly on Bandcamp.

Bandcamp Friday
In March, the music sharing website started dedicating the first Friday of each month to supporting musicians by waiving company revenue shares. In four days, fans gave over $20 million directly to artists and labels. All 24 hours of this Friday you can purchase music and merch from local acts and make sure they get paid. Maybe try one of our summer album picks. Or soul band True Loves. Or psychedelic project Terror/Cactus (who were wearing masks before it was cool). Or the consistently compelling SassyBlack.

Sat, Aug 8-21
Shorts Tour 2020
The Northwest Film Forum will link viewers to the virtual version of the 2020 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour, a collection of six shorts featuring directors and screenwriters from around the world. One from a Spokane director is about two powerful countries and a race to dig the deepest hole. Tickets are $10.

Sun, Aug 9
Journeys North: The Pacific Crest Trail
Distance hiker and author Barney Scout Mann takes the digital stage at Town Hall Seattle to discuss a recently published account of his journey along the Pacific Crest Trail (a trifle 2,650 miles). Tune in to find out how many granola bars it took to finish the trek and, who knows, you might even learn his trail name. You can get the book here. 7:30pm.

Tues, Aug 11
Juliet Shen
The Wing Luke Museum and the Seattle Art Museum will host font designer and landscape painter Juliet Shen and photographer and digital artist Carina A. del Rosario for a conversation over Instagram live. They’ll discuss what it’s like to create during a pandemic and how Seattle’s artistic community is adapting. 5pm
