What is scalp micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation is a hair loss treatment that creates the look of a full head of hair. By inserting pigment into the epidermal layer of the scalp, SMP replicates micro hair follicles. For women with thinning or thin hair, SMP provides fullness and density. For men suffering from male pattern baldness, it provides the appearance of a full head of hair and restores the receding hairline.
How is SMP different than a tattoo?
Although SMP is sometimes referred to as a hair tattoo, it is actually a form of permanent cosmetic pigmentation. The pigmentation for SMP is color-blended to match an individual’s hair and skin color whereas the ink used for tattooing results in blue and green undertones.
Is SMP reversible?
Yes! SMP is very easy to remove with laser technology (which Rejuvenation Medical Spa offers in its office). The laser heats up and breaks down the pigmentation, which is then absorbed into the dermis. SMP is easy to remove because it is only superficially deposited into the epidermis whereas tattoo ink is deposited much deeper into the epidermis.
Is it painful?
Most clients experience no pain at all. For those who have a very sensitive scalp and experience discomfort, Rejuvenation Medical Spa can prescribe medication modalities to alleviate the pain.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure length can vary based on the amount of hair loss and area treated, but typically takes three sessions. Each session ranges in length from two to four hours and the sessions are spaced out by a couple of weeks. Rejuvenation Medical Spa always work with your schedule and time restrictions to ensure optimal results.
How much does it cost?
Scalp micropigmentation cost depends on the amount of hair loss, scaring, and density. Call or email to schedule your free consultation.
