Geek Girl Fashion Shows
The con is on! GeekGirlCon (Sept 30–Oct 1) is here, which means self-styled nerds of all sorts will congregate in Seattle decked out in their finest geekery. And it's not all cosplay. At Fremont Foundry, the Geekbound Fashion Show will celebrate nerd cultura via LA-based Catherine Elhoffer's designer geekwear on September 28. The runway show starts at 7, but doors open at 6; be sure make time to meet comic artists, immerse yourself in virtual reality, and grab a bite or drink (the real, nonvirtual kind). Then, on September 30, the GeekGirlCon Fashion Show gets going at 7:30, when designs from Little Petal, Haute Geek, Elhoffer Design, Booty and the Geek, and more will take on the catwalk.

Horizon Books Reopening Party and Sale
This subterranean bookshop shuttered about two months ago after nearly 50 years (first on 15th Avenue East, then on 10th Avenue since 2009). But it has returned! Alas, print may not be dead after all. Horizon Books is reopening this Friday for a party and sale from 6–10pm. Peep the new layout and welcome back your local booksellers. For the one night only, everything under $20 will be 50 percent off, and there will be a large range of free, $1, $3 and $5 books. Some bubbly and snacks will be provided as well. Horizon Books' new business hours start October 1.

Pop-In@Nordstrom Welcomes Everlane

Filson Biannual Sportsman's Expo
It's back: A time to gear up and geek out on the upcoming hunting and fishing season. Head to Filson's flagship store in SoDo to meet with fellow outdoor enthusiasts and the folks with the outdoorsy goods. Emerald Water Anglers will be putting on fly-casting clinics throughout the afternoon alongside all-day fly-tying demos. Bring in your hunting knives and Seattle Edge will sharpen them for free; it's first come, first served. Then City Fish Company will show you how to filet a fish at 1 and 2pm. Sample jerky, learn hunting tips, and other rugged skills. Filson will also be debuting the new Grouse Boot, a collaboration with Oregon leather brand Danner. See everything for yourself from 10–6pm.
