Openings

Ghost Note Coffee
On Capitol Hill, caffeinated endeavors endure. Here, in the previous Broadcast Coffee space, find that instead of drip, pour-overs, Aeropress, or other like brewing methods, a press of a button will pull a balanced cup of coffee: “Think commuter-friendly speed with specialty coffee results.”

No Vacancy Poke
The front bar at Hotel Albatross is officially slinging two things as of this week: poke bowls and punch.

Belltown Brewing and The Brewhouse
In time for a certain beer-filled holiday, Bell and Whete is reborn as a pub and brewery, with a lineup of 33 taps pouring a mix of Northwest/West Coast beers, plus a few European creations. Official opening day is, you guessed it, March 17.

Outlier
Sazerac no longer; after a brief remodel, this restaurant inside Hotel Monaco downtown will open on March 23; Eater Seattle has details on the menu.

Revamps

Pintxo
The Belltown tapas bar is upgrading into a new, larger space that was formerly occupied by Spitfire. Beyond more seating, there will be a charcuterie station and more Spanish-style baked goods.

Vestal
Josh Henderson's South Lake Union restaurant is closing to retool as more of a casual cafe—a pivot not unlike the shift over at Kiki Ramen.

Blarney Stone
This Irish pub has doubled its size and by extension its capacity for ale-guzzling patrons. There’s an added bar, pool table, arcade games, 13 TVs for optimal sport viewing, and a new section for adults with kiddos in tow. A bigger kitchen brings a bigger menu, too.

Coming Soon

Commonwealth
Pintxo’s new digs comes with a lot of extra space. The other side of the same building will house this new sibling bar, which will channel the South by way of southern small plates and plenty of bourbon. Look for a fall opening.

Bar Abajo
In the soon-to-be former Pintxo space, this bar will carry on the Spanish vibe of its predecessor come springtime, whenever spring decides to arrive that is.

Awards and Accolades

James Beard Foundation
We have finalists in our midst. Canlis especially holds it down for Seattle in national categories Outstanding Wine Program and Rising Star Chef of the Year.

Quiet Closings

Maple Leaf
On the Maple Leaf Life blog, the neighborhood seems to have seen restaurants close without a peep. Most recently that would be Coa, which left no sign, no explanation...kind of like a lame breakup. It joins Cafe Piccolo, Maple Leaf Grill, LC’s Kitchen, and the Hudson New American Public House in the big eatery in the sky.

This article has been updated on March 20 to reflect the latest opening date for Outlier.
