Fried pig ear fries. Caviar pie with potato chips. Heirloom grains from the lauded Anson Mills. Ryan Donaldson is not messing around. The chef and owner is opening Gather Kitchen and Bar in Ballard this Thursday, October 5.
At Gather Kitchen and Bar, Donaldson, who's also the chef and owner of the decade-old Stone House restaurant in Redmond, aims to capture the casual energy of Spanish pintxo bars met with the convivial vibe of family gatherings. So gather 'round somewhere in the 80-seat dining room and bar, where you can choose from a Spanish– and French–influenced menu, with some Italian and Latin flavors, too. Think duck rillettes, foie gras mousse with balsamic fig jam, roasted marrow bones, polenta with wild mushrooms, grilled octopus, slow-roasted pork belly and clams, braised beef cheek with gnocchi, and more amongst the sizable offering.
Be it small plates, tapas, or shareable platters, you'll be able to wash it all down with local beer, craft cocktails, or internationally sourced wines.
Gather's located at 5605 22nd Avenue Northwest at the base of The Commons at Ballard, a luxe apartment complex. Come Thursday it will be open from 4–10pm daily. Stay tuned for a weekend brunch to follow soon.
