Bumbershoot bought local. That strategy works when you land the two biggest Seattle acts going: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Death Cab for Cutie. After a few shaky years, Bumbershoot 2016 (September 2–4) delivers one of the most impressive lineups in the festival's history. In addition to those bill toppers, the roster includes Tame Impala, Run the Jewels, Father John Misty, KYGO, Billy Idol, Third Eye Blind, Fetty Wap, Reggie Watts, and Tyler, the Creator, the Front Bottoms, plenty of EDM headliners, and so many more.
The always quality slate of local bands includes Chastity Belt, Lemolo, the Flavr Blue, Dude York, Erik Blood, Fly Moon Royalty, and Lisa Prank, among others. The comedy lineup hasn't returned to its former glory, but the lineup still offers a step up from last years offerings with Ron Funches, Nick Thune, Morgan Murphy, Improvised Shakespeare Company, and more. The highlight of the Words and Ideas slate comes in the form of the writers from Amazon's Golden Globe-winning series Transparent. And all that's not even mentioning the arts and culture lineup (Teatro ZinZanni, Theatre Puget Sound, SIFF, Velocity Dance, etc.). Bumbershoot 2016 looks to be a doozy.
Festival passes for Bumbershoot 2016 go on sale this Friday, April 30 at 10am on Bumbershoot.com. The three-day tickets start at $180 and go up to $700 for the Emerald VIP level.
