Brouwer’s Cafe Celebrates 11 Years
This booze lover’s paradise in Fremont is turning eleven, and what better to toast with than a custom anniversary brew by Steve Luke of Cloudburst Brewery? Luke brewed Brouwer’s anniversary ale two years ago and he’s dreamed up another hoppy punch in the face with his double IPA dubbed “Hu11abaloo”. There will be more Cloudburst brews on draft as well as some past birthday beers from Fremont Brewing and Reuben’s Brews. Things get started at 3pm and don’t forget to don your best Hawaiian shirt.

Plate of Nations Begins, Locally Dine On Global Fare
From traditional Ethiopian stew at Cafe Ibex to hidden gems of Laotian dishes at Thai Savon (pro tip: ask for the banana strips), dig into the culinary and cultural diversity in Seattle’s Rainier Valley—a relatively short (and topical) light link rail ride away. In its sixth year, the Plate of Nations runs March 25 to April 10 and highlights fourteen unique restaurants offering $15 or $25 multicourse meals to share with two or more people. Watershed Pub and Kitchen 2nd Anniversary Party
Yay, more beer parties. And this Northgate pub is celebrating with an all-day happy hour both Friday and Saturday. Hale’s Ales has brewed an anniversary ale in the pub’s honor; the ‘Shed stout was aged in two different bourbon barrels to assure optimal smokiness and good times. There will also be free, live music of the jazzy-funky-groovy variety Friday at 9.

This historic ‘hood is a concentration of delicious eateries, breweries, and an impressive number of pizzerias. Revitalizing Food Culture from the Cascades to the Salish Seas
Rather than merely observe the Bob Ross–esque naturescapes of the Pacific Northwest, explore the happy ferns and edible plants in this four-part class led by environmental anthropologist, Dr. Joyce LeCompte. Every Tuesday at 7pm through April 19, learn about northwest coast food systems, indigenous foods and diets, cooking tools made from natural materials, and more. Reservation Alert: Dinner Italian Style at LloydMartin
For two evenings—sure to be filled with gratuitous hand gestures and Stanley Tucci impressions—LloydMartin will become a classic Italian joint as in the 1996 film Big Night. Expect housemade pastas, mozzarella, and other large entrees made to share family style. And worry not, there will be Italian wines aplenty. Doors open at 4 and reservations are strongly recommended, hence the heads up. Buon appetito.

Ticket Alert: Chef Michael Solomonov at Hot Stove Society and Seattle Jewish Film Festival
The 2016 James Beard–nominated chef and author for Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking is coming to Seattle in full force. First, chef Michael Solomonov will stop by T-Doug’s cooking school, Hot Stove Society, on April 7 from 6 to 8 for a tasting and demo of Israeli dishes. Register online for the $95 class which includes wine, beer, generous tastes of Solomonov’s dishes, and a signed copy of Zahav. Thursday, chef Solomonov will attend the Seattle Jewish Film Festival screening of In Search of Israeli Cuisine in which he is the film’s culinary guide. Tickets to the film, playing at the SIFF Cinema Uptown in Queen Anne, are $13; for $30 ($35 day of the show) you can purchase a copy of his cookbook to be signed at the screening.
