Wine Tasting Series At the Fairmont Olympic Hotel
Imagine marbled floors, a sweeping lobby staircase, and your derriere in a tufted lounge chair while you sip on some of Washington’s best local wines. Yep, this could be you at the Fairmont Olympic this Thursday drinking wines from Woodward Canyon winery and L’Ecole No. 41. As part of Taste Washington Wine Month, the hotel will be hosting complimentary wine tastings with live music and small bites from 4:30 to 7 every Thursday and Friday throughout March.

Dessert Alert: Girl Scout Cookies Sales Begin
If you watched the Oscars last Sunday, you likely fought the urge to reach right into your TV and buy a box of thin mints from Chris Rock’s daughter. Though that particular opportunistic moment has passed, you’ll get your shot at tagalongs, do-si-dos, and the whole lot beginning this Friday. The Western Washington Girl Scouts cookie sales run March 4 through 20. Cookies are $4 per box with the exception of the gluten-free toffee-tastic at $5.50. Scout your proximity to samoas via the Western Washington Girl Scouts website.

Bourbon and Bacon Fest
For a Saturday fit for Ron Swanson, or any other sax-wielding libertarians really, please see yourself to the renovated Seattle Design Center in Georgetown. The Bourbon and Bacon Fest will be serving, you guessed it, tastes of the titular items from local purveyors and craft distilleries as well as bigger brands from across the U.S. There’s a day session from 1:30 to 4 and a night session from 7:30 to 10. Tickets range from $70 to $110.
Oysters and Wine at Stock Cafe
For a quite literally hands-on dining experience, head to this Ballard cafe for a class on oyster shucking and pairing wine with seafood including the keynote bivalve. This Saturday evening, shucking neophytes will have the opportunity to shell (and eat!) a dozen oysters from Taylor Shellfish Farms as well as make condiments, drink prosecco, and go home with their own oyster knife. The interactive oyster night is 6 to 8 at Stock and tickets are $36.

Dine Around Seattle
Ah yes, it’s that time again for three-course lunches and dinners at over 45 locally owned restaurants across the Seattle area. March means special prix fixe meals at special prices: $18 for lunch or $33 for dinner at participating Dine Around Seattle restaurants. Newcomers this year include Girin, Seven Beef, Ballard Annex Oyster House, and more. The event runs Sundays through Thursdays until March 31. And as a feel-good bonus: For every reservation made online through the Dine Around Seattle website, a donation will go to the Rainier Valley Food Bank, which serves thousands of hungry families each month. Wine Tasting Tuesdays at Lower Bar Ferdinand
From the Matt Dillon family of doing everything spot-on, this wine bar in Melrose Market is a deep well—or perhaps oak barrel—of knowledge. Every Tuesday this month, from 5 to 7, Lower Bar Ferdinand will have winemakers, distributors, and oenophiles of all sorts to chat Northwest wines and more. This Tuesday, the wine comes from Maury Island Winery from Vashon and Sous Sol. Tastings are free and open to the public. See the Bar Ferdinand website for more wine events and upcoming tastings.
