Guest Chef Night at FareStart with Ernest Loves Agnes
After recently opening in September of last year, the North Capitol Hill Italian restaurant is already making its television debut. Well, to be precise, chef Tia Hawley of Ernest Loves Agnes will be guest cheffing at FareStart this Thursday evening while ABC’s The Chew tapes segments for the food-centric talk show. With help from FareStart’s culinary students, chef Hawley’s three-course meal starts with a Mediterranean leaning appetizer, a braised guinea hen with handmade cappellacci pasta, and a creamy flan with kumquat marmalade for dessert. Dinner is from 5:30 to 8 and tickets are $30.

Chuck’s Hop Shop 2nd Anniversary Party
When one of the best beer-filled watering holes in Central District has an anniversary party, you go and drink all of the drinks. Over 30 taps will be dispensing some rare and exclusive beers, think: barrel aged beers, sours, imperial stouts and more. And as Chuck’s Hop Shop Central District Facebook page puts it, “What's a party without some dank hops?” What, indeed. It has been teasing some mighty fine ones like coffee bourbon barrel aged Dark Star stout from Fremont Brewing and a retired barrel aged sour blonde ale from The Bruery. The party gets going at 11am until close and tickets are $10 (includes four-ounce glass and 9 drink tickets).

Mobile Food Rodeo in Fremont
In its second iteration, this monthly roundup of food trucks will again line Evanston Avenue along with Fremont Sunday Market vendors. The Mobile Food Rodeo lineup consists of over a dozen trucks such as The Biscuit Box, Motofish Coffee (because needs), Wood Shop BBQ, and more. And if you’re understandably wary of hanging out in 40 degree weather, there will be outdoor patio heaters and seating to help with that.

Cheese 101 at Culture Club
At the more spacious sibling to Calf and Kid, Sheri LaVigne is hosting the first of many classes at her new cheese bar on 12th Avenue. Cheese 101 will be a tasting of ten cheeses paired with a gouda-mount of knowledge. Though Culture Club is roomier, be warned, seating is limited and on a first come, first served basis. Tickets are $45.
