Salare is kicking off its new brunch menu this weekend. The new lineup is eclectic and includes headcheese, Einkorn (a super healthy Mediterranean wheat, here served with okra, tomatoes, cauliflower, Walla Walla onions, and berbere), smoked black cod, and duck hash. 

OPENINGS

Fat's Fried Chicken and Waffles
The new Southern-style food spot with an infinitely appealing name opened this week. Marcus Lalario, the man behind L’il Woody's, opened Fat’s Chicken and Waffles at the original Catfish Corner space in the Central District. 

Super Six
The owners of all things Marination opened new restaurant Super Six on Thursday. This new Columbia City venture will serve up Asian dishes with Pacific Northwest flair. They will also offer espresso, weekend brunch, a full bar, and, eventually, a beer garden.

COMING SOON

Bramling Cross
Ethan Stowell is taking the old home of Portalis in Ballard and turning it into a new gastropub called Bramling Cross. This American fast food-style pub will feature a full bar with a cocktail list, wine list, and eight drafts on tap.

The Byzantion
Capitol Hill's the Byzantion closed its doors on Sunday after 30 years in business. Its owner, Sotiris Bekris, is retiring from the restaurant world. A new, first-time owner is purchasing the business from Bekris and turning it into a new cocktail bar called Spirit Animal.

Hawaiian Breeze
This week Wallyhood made it official that Wallingford’s Hawaiian Breeze is closed. 

Sutra
Sutra vegetarian restaurant has announced its last day of business will be September 19. Following a peculiar trend, this beloved restaurant will be replaced by apartments.

Crazycherry
Capitol Hill's Crazycherry, formerly Crazyberry, closed this week

Clare Gordon: Bateau, Bar Melusine, and General Porpoise
Bethany Jean Clement at the Seattle Times says Clare Gordon, the talented pastry chef who came up from Portland’s Ava Gene's a few years back, will be heading up all things pastry at Renee Erickson’s new trio on Capitol Hillincluding General Porpoise's custard- and jam-filled doughnuts.
