PubliCalendar regulars might remember Seattle-based artist Roger Shimomura as host of last week's Hirabayashi Place Preview Party. Known for giving superheroes and stereotypes his unique pop-art spin, Shimomura takes Town Hall Wednesday evening to share how his art melds themes like politics, ethnicity, and identity to make for critically-acclaimed yet controversial works.

Gang of Four members Bob Santos and Larry Gossett (with the late Bernie Whitebear and Roberto Maestas)  made historical strides on local social justice issues like civil rights, development, poverty, fishing rights, and gentrification. The next month brings a series of events celebrating the publication of The Gang of Four: Four Leaders, Four Communities, One Friendshipstarting with Wednesday's speakers panel at Elliott Bay Books.
