Meaningful Movies Presents: 'White Like Me'

White Like Me is Tim Wise's acclaimed primer on white privilege. Exploring race and racism in the U.S. through the lens of whiteness, Wise's history lessons dismantle the myth of meritocracy and the "postracial" society.

The film looks into race-based white entitlement programs that shaped the American middle class and how our failure to come to terms with its legacy continues to perpetuate inequality. Check out the trailer and bring a friend or two.

Meaningful Movies Presents: 'White Like Me', Fri, May 29, 7pm, Meaningful Movies Wallingford, 5019 Keystone Pl N, Donation-based admission

‘The Obama Doctrine’ and 2016 Elections

In a recent interview with The New York Times, President Obama said, “We will engage, but we preserve all our capabilities,” in reference to U.S.-Iran nuclear relations. Obama Doctrine author Colin Dueck believes this philosophy can be extended to all White House actions.

Join him at Town Hall on Monday as he reflects on Obama’s last two terms and gives foreign policy suggestions for the presidential successor, just in time for the 2016 elections. Hillary supporters may especially want to attend this one!

‘The Obama Doctrine’ and 2016 Elections, Mon, June 1, 7:30pm, Town Hall Seattle, 1119 Eighth Ave, $5
