OPENING

Gokan by Musashi
Jun Park, owner of Musashi in Seattle and Bellevue, opened another sushi joint on Capitol Hill this past week, according to Capitol Hill Seattle blog. Located between 10th and Union, Gokan brings back traditional Japanese dining practices where patrons are expected to linger over their sushi in small tatami rooms. Expect unfamiliar and exotic fishes on the menu; that’s what head chef Kuk Kim wants Gokan to be known for.

Mr. Gyros

The Mediterranean staple is expanding from its Ballard and Greenwood locations, opening a third in Wallingford this Tuesday. No changes on the menu. And like Ballard, it will stay open until 2:30am on Fridays.

COMING SOON

Vendemmia
Madrona’s highly anticipated Italian eatery is opening mid-May according to Eater. View the restaurant’s sample menu and don’t be surprised by its categories; chef and owner Brian Clevenger designed it so diners can experience family-style dinners, ordering multiple dishes and sampling.

Honest Biscuits
Come June, Honest Biscuits can be everyday fare at the Pike Place Market so you won’t have to wait for the weekend farmers market. More details on Nosh Pit.

Orfeo
Kevin and Terresa Davis, husband-and-wife restaurateurs behind Steelhead Diner and Blueacre Seafood, are taking over the former home of Brasa in Belltown, opening a restaurant with a name rooted in a Venetian Renaissance painting. Orfeo will hopefully open in August with a wood-burning oven and seating for 150.

COMING BACK

Restaurants Along the Waterfront
Bertha might have her issues, but at least the restaurants along the waterfront that closed for seawall construction last year will reopen on time. The Puget Sound Business Journal reports that 15 businesses, including Ivar’s Acres of Clams and Elliott’s Oyster House, will return as early as July 1. Both restaurants jumped on the opportunity to revamp their spaces with Ivar’s adding 200 seats with a deck overlooking the waterfront.
