Former Le Pichet pastry chef Rachael Coyle’s long-awaited, eagerly Kickstarter’d bakery finally has an opening date set for Friday, March 13 at 7am, reports Eater. Coyle will be baking up the same cretzels, four-layer chocolate cakes, and passion fruit tarts that garnered a cult following for her Book Larder popup, but in a fresh new Greenwood space. Lisa Nakamura has found a 12th Avenue home for her gnocchi popup, which is expected to be open by the end of the month. Allecia Vermillion has the details in Monday’s Nosh Pit post. One thing we know for certain: Nakamura’s former employers include a few little places called The French Laundry and The Herbfarm, so chances are this place will be good.
Armed Robbery at IHOP
The First Hill IHOP was held up at around 1am on Friday morning. According to Capitol Hill Seattle blog, the suspect implied that he had a weapon and escaped with $150 in cash. Seattle University’s police responded to guard the north side of campus, which is across the street from the restaurant. The suspect, who is described as a heavyset, dark-complected male in his 40s, has not been found.
Delancey Adds Monday Pasta Nights
Be still our hearts. Brandon Pettit’s wood-fired pizza spot will be adding weekly spaghetti nights starting in April, reports Eater. Expect Il Corvo pastas topped with simple-yet-sublime red sauces, classic Italian starters, and a rotating lineup of desserts.
Brunch and Lunch at Shaker and Spear
As expected, Walter Pisano’s new seafood spot in Belltown’s historic Palladian Hotel launched weekday lunch and weekend brunch service this week. Details and menus can be found at Eater Seattle.
Fundraiser for Raquel Ruiz Diaz
Chef Blaine Wetzel of Willows Inn is holding a fundraiser to pay for his fiancée and front of house manager Raquel’s medical expenses after she was hit by a drunk driver in Paraguay last month. The many injuries she sustained will require several surgeries and at least one year of recovery. Wetzel will be holding fundraising dinners at Willows Inn on March 30 and April 13, where guests can donate, chat with Raquel via Skype, and nosh on Wetzel’s James Beard Award–winning food—no tickets or reservations required. Those who can’t attend but would like to donate can do so via the online fundraising page.
