WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1 

LloydMartin Does Four Days of Barbecue
The annual tradition of restaurants taking on a new food-persona for April Fool’s Day continues at this Queen Anne eatery. Last year it was a taqueria takeover, this year LloydMartin goes whole hog, as in the Sloppy Hog BBQ popup it will transform into for four days. From April 1 through 4, expect a menu full of sloppy greatness: skillet cornbread with smoked honey butter, deviled eggs with candied bacon, baby back ribs with Lloyd’s brown sugar barbecue sauce, and more. Wednesday through Friday is walk-ins only, while Saturday accepts walk-ins in addition to reservations. And like most barbecue joints, get there early because Sloppy Hog BBQ closes when the food’s cleared out.

Derschanigan’s Takes Over Bait Shop
Big props go to Linda Derschang and her crew for committing to the bit. This self-described “backwards-sunglasses-wearing-suburban-comfort-food-with-a-goatee” April Fool’s popup is going the route of Chotchkie’s from Office Space with green suspenders and a solid flair game. Think T.G.I. Friday’s–inspired menu with jazzy names like the Strawberry Blitzer Spritzer and Zip Zappy Zing Blinged-Out Wings. Coming to Capitol Hill's Bait Shop this Wednesday only.

THURSDAY, APRIL 2

International Fly Fishing Film Festival at Tini Bigs and Hula Hula
Forget SIFF, these two Queen Anne cocktail lounges are hosting IFFFF this Thursday and like Meghan Trainor, fly fishing enthusiasts are also all about that bass (sorry, it had to be said). Full of beautiful waterscape shots, dive into fly-fishing culture at The 4th annual International Fly Fishing Film Festival hosted by Tini Bigs and Hula Hula. The showing for short and feature length films begins at 6:30pm and tickets are $15. Plus, raffles are great and there will be one with donations from Stoneburner, RockCreek, Patagonia, Tom Douglas Restaurants, and more. 

FRIDAY, APRIL 3

Hop Scotch Spring Beer and Scotch Festival
Like the good old schoolyard game but with booze (read: better), hop from tasting to tasting at this beer, whiskey, and wine festival in the Fremont Studios from April 3 to 4. There will be two sessions of hopping: Friday from 5 until midnight, and Saturday from 1pm until midnight. The festival will be pouring an impressive list of west coast brews, plus whiskey flights of local distilleries. Ticketing is particularly interesting with quite a few options: if you prefer hops to Scotch, beer-only advanced tickets are $30 ($40 after April 2), while an advanced ticket for tasting a little bit of everything is $35 ($45 after April 2). Additionally, there are $70 VIP tickets available for advanced purchase only.

SATURDAY, APRIL 4

Passover Dinners at Golden Beetle
From April 4 through 10, chef Maria Hines is creating a five-course Passover tasting menu. Her Golden Beetle interpretation includes beitzah, a fried soft-boiled egg with asparagus, harissa aioli and fried shallot, a sablefish ball soup, an Anderson Valley Ranch braised lamb dish, and more. Dinner is $50 per person with a Kosher wine pairing option for $25.

TUESDAY, APRIL 7

Washington Brewers Showdown at Burgundian
Returning champion Elysian Brewing will be present for this battle of brews along with Holy Mountain Brewing, Old Schoolhouse Brewery, Stoup Brewing, and Sound Brewery. The gist: Each competing brewery brings in four beers of which Burgundian attendees taste, then cast a vote for Overall Tap Appeal and Best Beer in Show. The winner will face the California and Oregon victors on May 12th during Seattle Beer Week in a final showdown. Do your best judge impressions from 6 to 10pm at Burgundian in Wallingford.
