No matter your opinion of Mumford and Sons' music, you have to admire the band's commitment to play places off the beaten path. The group even has its own popup outdoor music fest, Stopover Festival, which focuses on cities where major bands never play (like Waverly, Iowa and Salida, Colorado). This summer, Stopover will set up camp in Walla Walla on August 14 and 15. For something falling outside the purview of the major music fests, Stopover features an impressive lineup: Mumford and Sons (obviously), Foo Fighters, the Flaming Lips, Jenny Lewis, Tune-Yards, the Vaccines, Dawes, Jeff the Brotherhood, James Vincent McMorrow, Blake Mills, and more. Think of it as a cheaper and less demanding outdoor summer concert alternative to Sasquatch! (Seriously Sasquatch! folks, why'd you have to go back to four days?)
Two-day passes for the Stopover Festival in Walla Walla go on sale this Friday, March 6 at 10am via gentlemenoftheroad.com and cost $199 (camping included).
