Veterans, show your military ID to get a free burger, fries, and medium drink at Dick's Drive In locations, or free lunch or dinner at 23 Ivar's locations (plus three full-service spots; reservations recommended) and seven Kidd Valley restaurants. Starbucks is also pouring free tall coffees for veterans, active service member and spouses.

Author Talk: The Essential Scratch-N-Sniff Guide to Becoming a Whiskey Know-It-All
Book Larder and Essex are teaming up for a "progressive book signing" for author Richard Betts and his humorous (and highly illustrated) guide to whiskey. The night begins with a discussion and whiskey tutorial at the bookstore, then moves on to Essex, where Brandon Pettit will have a whiskey flight available for purchase. Attending the event is free.

Art of the Table Wine Dinner
Dustin Ronspies of Fremont restaurant Art of the Table will serve a slew of fall dishes to accompany wine from Yakima winery Cote Bonneville. Dinner includes salmon tartare with cabernet franc rosé, pork trotter potstickers and Punjabi cabbage paired with riesling, saffron-cauliflower risotto with chardonnay and more. Phinney Neighborhood Association Winter Beer Taste
The annual gathering of Northwest beer returns with 30 breweries bringing bold winter ales. A $35 ticket gets you 10 tastes; lay down an additional $30 for the preview tasting, where you get a jump on the beers, plus free sliders and coleslaw.
Ongoing: Dine Around Seattle
Fall’s Dine Around Seattle returns with 45 Seattle restaurants and new participators like Chop Shop, Orfeo, Dunbar Room, and Hitchcock. From November 1–25, eat around town at restaurants that pay a particular focus on sustainable foods by using seasonal and local resources. For $33 try three-course dinner menus (appetizer, entree and dessert) and $18 lunch options from restaurants like Capitol Hill’s Chavez, Ballard’s Skillet Diner, and Belltown’s Icon Grill. Seattle Good Business Network, seeking to promote hyperlocal investments, will donate to Rainier Valley Food Bank for every reservation made through Dine Around Seattle’s website.
