Death Cab for Cutie is finally ready to officially share music from its upcoming album Kintsugi. After giving a small group of local fans a taste of the new material at the Crocodile last week, Death Cab for Cutie has released a lyric video Kintsugi's first single, "Black Sun." The dark and moody tune captures Ben Gibbard in an even more dour state than usual (which is saying something). Nothing like a chorus of "How could something so fair be so cruel? / When this black sun revolved around you" to brighten your day. Take a listen below.
Additionally, Death Cab for Cutie announced its first Seattle date in support of Kintsugi. The band will head to the Paramount Theatre on Saturday, October 3 and tickets go on sale this week. If it seems weird that the band is waiting until the fall to play a local concert, you might want to read between the lines. In all likelihood, DCFC will be headlining this year's Sasquatch! Festival (I'd bet a small fortune on it), but lineup won't be announced until next week. Stay tuned.
Tickets for Death Cab for Cutie at the Paramount go on sale this Friday, January 30 at 10am on stgpresents.org and cost $45.
