Death Cab for Cutie returns.

This week, Death Cab for Cutie announced details about the group's upcoming eighth album Kintsugi. Arriving on March 31, the record will the band's swan song with founding guitarist/producer Chris Walla, who left DCFC last September. The album's title, Kintsugi, speaks to the split, evoking the Japanese art style where broken ceramics are pieced back together with gold, turning the destruction and repair into a beautiful part of the item's history.

But the band couldn't let the week end without some even cooler, more imminent news for Seattleites. As revealed by Ben Gibbard with a subtle-unless-you-live-in-Seattle joke via Instagram, Death Cab for Cutie will play its first show in the post-Walla era next Tuesday, January 20 at the Crocodile with opening support from Say Hi. It'll be a chance for local fans to hear the new Kintsugi tunes before the rest of the world, and do so in an intimate venue that dwarfs the places the band typically plays these days.

Tickets for Death Cab for Cutie at the Crocodile are $35 and go on sale tomorrow (Saturday, January 17) at 10am on ticketfly.com. In order to discourage scalpers, all tickets will be held at will call with a two ticket limit per order.
