Well folks, that most wine friendly of US holidays—the fourth of July—is coming up this week, so it’s time to pick some wines for celebrating. For most large holiday gatherings, I recommend providing a selection so there’s something for everyone. I also hate to break the bank when the wine is flowing so freely. So in the spirit of the holiday, I’ll recommend one value-priced red, white, and pink wine (retailers listed in parentheses).

In terms of reds, the NXNW Red Blend Columbia Valley 2012 ($15, Pete’s Wine Shop, Ralph's Grocery and Deli) is a high quality wine for the money. This blend of syrah, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc is full of plush, plummy flavors with a soft feel.

For white wine, it’s hard to beat the quality and value of the Milbrandt Vineyards Traditions Chardonnay Columbia Valley 2013 ($13, Metropolitan Market, QFC). It offers aromas and flavors of pear and apricot with a rich feel and a sweet finish.

Finally for rosé, go with Julia’s Dazzle Pinot Gris Rosé Horse Heaven Hills 2014 ($16, Esquin Wine and Spirits, McCarthy and Schiering, Seattle Wine Company). This wine has a distinctive bowling pin shaped bottle and is full of cherry and watermelon flavors with a fresh, lingering finish.

Enjoy the fourth!
